The School Year

Obviously the school calendar varies from year to year. The following are events which have traditionally been held each year, most of which, parents are invited to attend:

Autumn term

• Harvest festival – children are encouraged to bring to school food that is then donated to a local charity. A visiting speaker is usually invited to attend.

• Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 Nativity play – a performance not to be missed!

• Carol service – usually held in St Laurence church and often includes special singing & instrumental items performed by the children.

Spring term

• ‘Friday Fling’ – an early evening disco in two sessions, for Foundation Stage KS1, then KS2 plus the previous year 6. Children & helpers only!

Summer term

• School fete – Many hands needed for setting up and manning stalls and refreshments, as well as coming to enjoy the event.

• Sports day – held one afternoon in July. All children participate in a variety of races cheered on by friends and family.

• Annual Parents’ Meeting – presentation of the Governors’ Annual report.

• Celebration evening – the school is open for families to come and admire the children’s work.

• Year 6 assembly – a fun event conducted by year 6 on the last day of term.
