The
School Year
Obviously
the school calendar varies from year to year. The following are events which
have traditionally been held each year, most of which, parents are invited
to attend:
Autumn term
• Harvest
festival – children are encouraged to bring to school food that is then
donated to a local charity. A visiting speaker is usually invited to attend.
• Foundation
Stage and Key Stage 1 Nativity play – a performance not to be missed!
• Carol
service – usually held in St Laurence church and often includes special
singing & instrumental items performed by the children.
Spring
term
• ‘Friday
Fling’ – an early evening disco in two sessions, for Foundation Stage KS1,
then KS2 plus the previous year 6. Children & helpers only!
Summer
term
• School
fete – Many hands needed for setting up and manning stalls and refreshments,
as well as coming to enjoy the event.
• Sports
day – held one afternoon in July. All children participate in a variety
of races cheered on by friends and family.
• Annual
Parents’ Meeting – presentation of the Governors’ Annual report.
• Celebration
evening – the school is open for families to come and admire the children’s
work.
• Year
6 assembly – a fun event conducted by year 6 on the last day of term.
