The children are provided with a variety of
experiences, which enable them to plan, design, produce, modify and evaluate
their projects. As they progress through the school they are taught the
skills needed to put together work of high quality and craftsmanship. They
are given opportunities to use knowledge and skills they have learnt, to
solve practical problems and are taught to select appropriate materials
and use equipment safely.
We are proud of our ICT provision and are continuing
to develop ways of using this technology in many curriculum areas. In three
classroom bases we have networked interactive whiteboards and laptop computers.
The fourth classroom uses networked PCs.We have broadband connection to
the internet, made possible by working closely with our partner schools. We
have two digital cameras, which are used to enhance the children’s learning
and provide a record of school life.
Religious
Education
We
follow the Cambridgeshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. The
aim of this is to enable pupils to acquire knowledge and understanding
of Christianity and the other principal religions represented in Great
Britain, and develop the ability to explore, reflect on and respond
to human experience, drawing on their study of religion. At Foxton the
teaching is predominantly Christian but non–denominational, and pupils
are introduced to other faiths, cultures and traditions. This is taught
by familiarising the children with religious stories and ceremonies
and building on their own experiences. There is also the opportunity
to join in a variety of celebrations and festivals, visiting the local
church if appropriate. Through Religious Education we encourage our
children to develop a consideration for others and an understanding
of how religion affects people's lives, attitudes, actions and respect
for the world around them.
