Child
Protection
The
local authority requires headteachers to report any obvious or suspected
cases of child abuse. This procedure is intended to protect children at
risk and the viewpoint is that it is better to be safe than sorry. This
does mean that there is a risk of upsetting parents if suspicions are reported
which upon investigation prove unfounded. We hope that parents appreciate
the difficulty of such a delicate responsibility for headteachers and understand
that he/she must act in what is believed to be the best interests of the
child concerned.
Health
& Safety
The school
has a comprehensive Health & Safety policy which operates in conjunction
with the Cambridgeshire County Council’s Health & Safety Policy to cover
all aspects of school life.We are committed to providing a safe and healthy
environment so far as is reasonably practicable.
A fire drill is held every half term with the intention that children will
become familiar with emergency procedures and will not be frightened in
the event of a real emergency.
A safer cycling course and water safety course are usually run for Year
6.
CRITICAL
INCIDENT PLAN: DATA PROTECTION
The
Governors have a Critical Incident Plan in place to be implemented in
the event of a serious emergency. Our plan includes the need to have
access to parental contact details, in paper format, off the school
site, i.e. at the home of the Headteacher and that of the Chair of Governors.
This is permissible under the terms of the Data Protection Act.
