Home–School Links

Our Home–School Agreement encourages an active and co–operative partnership between home and school. We invite each family to sign this document when their first child joins the school.

Your child’s class teacher should be the first point of contact for concerns about your child or to give us urgent information. We have an ‘open door’ policy at school but we ask that you arrange an appointment if a longer meeting is required, to avoid disrupting the teaching day. The Administration Office is open during the school day for general queries.

We hope that parents will feel able to discuss relevant issues freely with the class teacher, the Headteacher or a school governor. In the event of an issue arising which you feel is not resolved satisfactorily, there is a complaints procedure explained in a leaflet available from the Cambridgeshire County Council Education Department.

Please make sure that we have your up to date contact details. If we cannot contact you when necessary, this may cause your child distress.

There are a variety of opportunities for parents to participate in school life. These include:

• helping in the classroom or with transport for excursions,

• becoming a member of the Governing Body, which is concerned with school policy,

• joining the Friends of Foxton School, who organise fundraising and social events,

• attending special events such as children’s performances, topic evenings, sports day, fundraising events.

Newsletters are ‘sent home’ to give you general news and details about events during the year. These and other useful information will be posted on the notice board in the playground. We also use a flip chart in the playground for reminders and ‘stop press’ items.

Every child will be given a class information sheet to bring home at the beginning of the school year featuring homework, topics for the year, PE timetabling and important reminders.
